There are certain situations where you may not be able to have hydrotherapy

The extra support of the water can make you feel that you can do more exercise than usual, so you need to take care that you don’t overdo it!


The exercise and the warmth can make you feel tired afterwards, but this is quite normal.

You must tell your physiotherapist

Before you start hydrotherapy you will have a discussion with the physiotherapist to see if it’s suitable for you.  The decision will be based on the severity of your condition, whether it affects more than one part of your body and the type of medication.

Hydrotherapy isn’t advised if you have certain conditions in the list, but with others it’s just to inform the physiotherapist so they can take precautions if they need to.
